VFR SCENARIO #6

The Ultimate Short Landing

Sometimes, it's just for fun.  Okay Maverick, 'Call the Ball'!

Landing on an aircraft carrier is perhaps the ultimate in short field landings.  But at least this boat isn’t moving, it isn’t pitching and the Landing Signal Officer is off duty so no one will grade this landing.  You might wish Paddles were on the LSO Platform giving guidance when you see that postage stamp runway rising up to meet you!

Today, this Carrier is anchored in Chesapeake Bay just waiting for a sim driver with the Right Stuff to put it right on the 3-wire.  Good thing the winds are blowing right down the deck at 28 knots.  Remember your short field landing configuration and keep your pitch/power aimpoint squared away.

And never, and we mean never, buzz the tower or fly below the hard deck!

Pre-flight and Fly More!

Arrive well briefed for this flight and get extra sim time.  Access and review the materials here.
